After a harrowing, Weapons-style chase to the Dolby Theater, Oscars host Conan O'Brien made it to the stage to deliver a monologue that pokes fun at some of the hottest topics in Hollywood, including AI.

"I am honored to be the last human host of the Academy Awards," O'Brien said to start his monologue. "Next year it's going to be a Waymo in a tux."

O'Brien also threw shade at Timothée Chalamet's recent viral comments about opera and ballet, saying there was increased security at the Oscars due to "concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities."

O'Brien's monologue also gestured towards political unrest, albeit vaguely.

"If I could be serious for just a moment, everyone watching right now around the world is all too aware that these are very chaotic, frightening times. It's at moments like these that I believe that the Oscars are particularly resonant," O'Brien said. "Check it out. Thirty-one countries across six continents are represented this evening, and every film we salute is the product of thousands of people speaking different languages, working hard to make something of beauty. We pay tribute tonight, not just to film, but to the ideals of global artistry, collaboration, patience, resilience, and that rarest of qualities today, optimism."

Things didn't stay too serious for long, though, as O'Brien closed the monologue with a reenactment of what it would look like if he won an Oscar. Spoiler alert: It involves the Pope, Josh Groban, and a falcon carrying his trophy down to him.

I have one question after watching the Sinners cast perform the film's Academy Award-nominated song "I Lied To You" at the Oscars, and that is: Sinners stage musical, when?

The Oscars performance sweeps viewers up in the film's most breathtaking sequence, when blues singer Sammie "Preacher Boy" Moore (Miles Caton) performs, his music so powerful it transcends space and time. Soon, Sinners' juke joint revelers are joined by performers from the past and present, including DJs, ballerinas, and traditional Chinese opera dancers.

Sinners brought that genre-bending magic right to the Oscars, along with an onstage recreation of the film's juke joint. Caton and Raphael Saadiq performed "I Lied to You" alongside renowned singers and songwriters Eric Gales, Buddy Guy (who also appears in the movie as older Sammie), Brittany Howard, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Bobby Rush, Shaboozey, and Alice Smith. Misty Copeland, the first Black woman to be named Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theater, also took the stage, as did cast members Jayme Lawson and Li Jun Li.

Coming just under an hour into the Oscars telecast, this tribute to the power of music, especially the blues, is already a highlight of the night, earning a well-deserved standing ovation.

Conan O'Brien channeled his inner Aunt Gladys (Academy Award winner Amy Madigan) to kick off the 98th Academy Awards.

During a pre-recorded segment, the Oscars host donned the Weapons' villain's iconic reg wig and clownish makeup before getting chased down to the Dolby Theater by a troupe of bloodthirsty kids.

Along the way, he made several pit stops throughout 2025's Oscar-nominated movies. He darted across the race track in F1. He scored a point in a ping pong match against Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme. He charged across the stage during Hamnet's poignant climax, rode shotgun with One Battle After Another's Benicio del Toro, and even begged Sinners' Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan) to let him into their juke joint.

Plus, he learned Norwegian just to get dressed down by Stellan Skarsgård in Sentimental Value. O'Brien may have regretted picking up the new language just for a bit, but we appreciate the effort.

Unlike in Weapons, O'Brien's Aunt Gladys actually made it out alive. O'Brien arrived on the Oscars stage totally unscathed (and sadly, wigless).

Who will take home Oscar gold at the 98th Academy Awards?

So far, this awards season has been a race between two movies. Ryan Coogler's breathtaking vampire film Sinners set an Oscar record with 16 nominations, making it the most Oscar-nominated film of all time. Elsewhere, Paul Thomas Anderson's revolutionary epic One Battle After Another has been dominating awards season, taking home top honors at precursor awards like the Critics' Choice Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, DGA Awards, PGA Awards, and WGA Awards. However, Sinners' ensemble win at the Actor Awards could signal an Oscars surge for the film.

Best Picture has been a two-horse race between Sinners and One Battle After Another all season long, with One Battle After Another winning the major precursors like the Critics Choice Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, DGA, and PGA awards. However, with 16 nominations and an ensemble win at the Actor Awards, Sinners certainly has the momentum to take Best Picture.

This week's Saturday Night Live cold open sticks to the formula that's been working all season — James Austin Johnson's uncanny Trump impression anchoring a tour through the latest week of governmental chaos. The Cold Open starts with a family stranded at a gas station, forced to make the grim calculation of which kid gets left behind after gas prices blow past $5 a gallon in the wake of the Iran war.

Then the family freezes, and Trump appears with this week's unhinged stream of consciousness. The sketch breaks the fourth wall just enough, with a nod to that night's host, Harry Styles, and a sharp dig at Marcello Hernandez's well-established role as the show's perpetual child actor.

"He's SNL's little chihuahua," Johnson's Trump declares. "That sounds racist, and it is."

Colin Jost's Pete Hegseth also makes an appearance, randomly tumbling out of the back of the family's Chevy Impala wearing shoes several sizes too big — a gift from Trump that he's apparently obsessed with.

Before the envelopes are opened and the speeches begin, the Oscars deliver another kind of spectacle: the red carpet.

One Battle After Another's Chase Infiniti brought soft drama to the Oscars red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton gown in a dreamy lavender hue.

Siri's development over the years has been less than stellar, especially compared to competing voice assistants from Google and Amazon, but if the rumors are true, work on the new Siri update is so much of a hassle that Apple is delaying the release of its next-generation Apple Home products.

Last year, notorious Apple scooper Mark Gurman told Bloomberg that the Cupertino-based tech giant had been working on a slew of new home products, including long-overdue updates to their HomePod and HomePod Mini, indoor security cameras, and even a tabletop robot with a motorized arm, all to be controlled by the sound of your voice.

This aggressive foray into the smart home market was originally slated to launch last year, but was delayed until spring of 2026. Another, more recent report from Gurman has highlighted the growing disconnect between Apple's hardware and software divisions as the main cause of another delay.

At the center of this recent report is a smart home display/hub that Apple hoped to compete with Amazon's Echo Show. Reportedly, the device was to lean heavily on artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology to deliver tailored information to every new person who approached it: homework assignments for the kids, for example, and upcoming meetings for the parents. But with Siri's development behind expectations, these new smart home devices are being further delayed, most likely until September, when the next generation iPhone lineup is set to launch alongside a much-improved Siri assistant. 

Apple fans eager to give their homes a smart upgrade will have to wait a few more months, but with so many products releasing simultaneously this fall, even more pressure will be placed on Apple's command of artificial intelligence across its product ecosystem, making September a momentous month for the company.

In a bizarre inversion of recent trends, human actors have managed to steal work from artificial intelligence. Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz recently, Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund revealed that the studio had replaced AI-generated dialogue with human voices in their successful ARC Raiders game, albeit only after the successful October launch.

The decision came down to quality, with Söderlund ultimately admitting that the professional voice actors still offer something that artificial intelligence cannot: "There is a quality difference. A real professional actor is better than AI; that's just how it is."

Despite the game's remarkable success on Steam, with 14 million sales in February and more than 6 million weekly active users, critics have balked at the game's clunky use of text-to-speech, claiming that it harms immersion in the otherwise compelling story and world. As proof that the studio is sensitive to criticism and still eager to improve their already-launched product, the developers have identified key sections of dialogue to be "upgraded" by paid voice actors. As of now, however, there are no plans to replace all AI-generated voice content with human actors. 

Embark Studios also emphasized that, while some artificial intelligence was used in the dialogue, no generative AI was used in creating the game's striking, much-praised visuals. 

While critics of AI are quick to point out the human cost in terms of jobs lost or the damage to artistic integrity when AI trespasses into the realms of the human imagination, proponents point to the incredible cost-saving benefits of artificial intelligence, which may ultimately give more creative power to cash-strapped individuals rather than corporations. 

For now, however, expected more heated debates on the virtues and vices of AI as its use continues to accelerate in the gaming industry.

Bad news for the more than 180 million Americans signed up for Amazon Prime: the service is revamping its membership structure and locking 4K video streaming behind a higher-cost tier, charging customers an additional $4.99 per month to unlock the highest-resolution experience.

Prior to the change, regular Prime members paying either $14.99 per month or $139 per year could stream in 1080p HD or 4K/UHD, while customers eager to stream ad-free could pay an additional $3 per month. Now, however, the basic Prime Video package restricts users to 1080p streams, while the ad-free experience is being upgraded and rebranded as "Ultra."

To further entice customers to upgrade their subscription, Amazon is throwing in additional perks for Ultra members, including an increased download capacity for offline viewing (from 25 to 100), support for Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Vision picture, and an increase in the number of concurrent streams from a single account, from three to five.

It isn't all bad news for basic Prime members, though: they will also gain access to Dolby Vision support, as well as an increase in the number of concurrent streams they can access from a single account, from three to four.

It's also worth noting that true 4K streaming is still a tall order for most customers, either because they lack the bandwidth or because their streaming device, especially on smartphones and tablets, doesn't support true 4K UHD resolution. 

For those Amazon customers who rely on Prime Video for their home theater, though, the Ultra upgrade should be mandatory.

There isn’t actually an official Adult Friend Finder app, but a lot of the site’s users still access its content on mobile devices. Both Apple and Google strictly police the kinds of content they allow on their respective app stores, and because Adult Friend Finder allows on-site nudity, including in profiles, chat forums, and live broadcasts, they haven’t been granted permission to create an official app for the two most-used mobile platforms.

Unfortunately, these rules apply even if you don’t have nudity on your profile or have turned on all the filters that restrict the display of adult content when using AFF, so there isn’t even a watered-down version of the app available and likely never will be.

What’s the best alternative?

If you really want to mimic the experience of using an app on your phone, you can simply create a homescreen shortcut to the Adult Friend Finder site. If you have cookies enabled and have already logged in, you can even remain logged in each time, saving you having to re-enter your login credentials.

To create a homescreen shortcut on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to AdultFriendFinder.com in your Safari mobile browser (no third-party browser will work)

2. Tap the ellipsis icon in the bottom right corner of your Safari app, and then tap the Share icon at the top of the pop-up menu

3. Scroll towards the bottom of the option list and select "Add to Home Screen"

4. You will be prompted to assign a name to the icon before you can hit "Add"

For Android users, the steps are slightly different:

1. Navigate to AdultFriendFinder.com in your Chrome mobile browser (no third-party browser will work)

2. Tap the menu icon in the upper right corner of your Chrome app, and then tap "Add to Home Screen"

3. You will be prompted to assign a name to the icon before you can hit "Add"

How secure is this home screen icon approach?

This method of accessing Adult Friend Finder is functionally no different than opening Chrome or Safari first, so it's no less safe than using the actual site, but there are a few things to consider:

• If you share your phone or tablet with someone else, they will be able to see the AFF icon and possibly even access your account just by clicking on the app

• If you prefer to keep your Adult Friend Finder use hidden, consider hiding the icon within a sub-folder or within a password-protected folder

According to NASA, the Moon takes roughly 29.5 days to orbit Earth, passing through eight distinct phases along the way. Although we always see the same side of the Moon, the amount illuminated by the Sun shifts as it moves, which is why it can appear full, half-lit, or just a thin sliver at different times in the cycle. These shifting appearances are known as the lunar phases, and there are eight altogether:

New Moon - The Moon is between Earth and the sun, so the side we see is dark (in other words, it's invisible to the eye).

Waxing Crescent - A small sliver of light appears on the right side (Northern Hemisphere).

First Quarter - Half of the Moon is lit on the right side. It looks like a half-Moon.

Waxing Gibbous - More than half is lit up, but it’s not quite full yet.

Full Moon - The whole face of the Moon is illuminated and fully visible.

Waning Gibbous - The Moon starts losing light on the right side. (Northern Hemisphere)

Third Quarter (or Last Quarter) - Another half-Moon, but now the left side is lit.

Waning Crescent - A thin sliver of light remains on the left side before going dark again.

The NYT Connections puzzle today is not too difficult if you love to be in control.

Connections is the one of the most popular New York Times word games that's captured the public's attention. The game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier—so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

The NYT's latest daily word game has become a social media hit. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu with helping to create the new word game and bringing it to the publications' Games section. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer.

If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.
