The Drama review: Zendaya and Robert Pattinson deliver cringe comedy in troubling wedding romance

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 06:00

A24 loves a romance that demands its audience reevaluate love. Consider the nightmare-fuel breakup movie that is Midsommar, the carnal journey of self-acceptance that is Babygirl, the aching anti-romance of Queer, the violent passion of Love Lies Bleeding, the path not chosen of Past Lives, and the buzzkill subplot of sexual assault in the love-triangle dramedy Materialists. To this curious company of hits and misses comes The Drama, Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli's follow-up to the Nicolas Cage-fronted Dream Scenario.

SEE ALSO: Zendaya and Robert Pattinson plan the wedding from hell in 'The Drama' teaser

Written and directed by Borgli, The Drama stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a young couple who have great chemistry and a seemingly blissful marriage on their horizon. That is, until a dangerous drinking game throws the groom into a deep spiral of panic and doubt. We're not talking your average wedding jitters scenario. Borgli uses a troubling American issue to rattle the expectations of wedding-day drama. But much like Dream Scenario, his actors give more than his undercooked script deserves.

The Drama isn't about your common wedding upsets.  Credit: Courtesy of A24

It's the week before Charlie (Pattinson) and Emma (Zendaya) are to marry, which should be stressful enough between buttoning up the details of menus, speeches, and a bespoke first dance number. However, Borgli heightens the tension of this chaotic time by snapping from the present to the couple's flashbacks, fantasies, and nightmares as the couple's idea of each other changes dramatically.

The romance between Charlie (Pattinson) and Emma (Zendaya) begins rather blandly with a meet-cute at a coffee shop, where he lies about loving the book she's reading. Such a little white lie might seem harmless, but it's the first red flag — one of many. Through flashbacks, we witness Charlie doubling down on his lies. Though Emma learns the truth during their courtship and forgives him, Charlie can't handle a dark secret from her past.

Their relationship hits a wall as he desperately tries to rationalize her revelation. Their fast-approaching wedding day becomes a ticking clock as he can't shake his newfound fear of her. It's almost clever how Borgli has found a new route to explore cold feet. But the story that builds from this place is scattershot and shallow, much like Dream Scenario's compelling concept fell apart under the filmmaker's clumsy commentary on cancel culture.

Wait, so what happens in The Drama?  Credit: Courtesy of A24

On a drunken night out with friends, Emma reveals "the worst thing" she's ever done was plan a school shooting. She makes it clear she didn't go through with it, but the reveal that she'd seriously considered such violence is enough to shatter her relationship with her maid of honor Rachel (a glowering Alana Haim) and threaten her upcoming marriage with Charlie.

With this revelation, Charlie no longer sees his fiancée as empathetic and kind, deleting these compliments from the draft of his wedding speech. He begins to imagine her holding a rifle, sometimes as her younger self (Jordyn Curet) and sometimes as her present self in lingerie, in their bed. As they argue over this revelation, he fantasizes that she's joking, and they can just push past it. He also imagines their wedding day as a mass shooting, with Emma chasing him down as their guests lie splayed among the decorated venue, blood staining their dress clothes.

Where the film begins as a double-hander, with both Emma and Charlie informing the narrative through dialogue and flashbacks intended to be from their respective perspectives, The Drama shifts to Charlie after the revelation. As the audience, we are urged to be more aligned with his fears and paranoia, and Emma becomes less and less knowable.

Don’t miss out on our latest stories: Add Mashable as a trusted news source in Google.

There are many flashbacks to Emma's life as a teenager, fitfully showing her loneliness and the cold comfort her father's military rifle offered. But it's unclear if these looks back are Emma's memory or Charlie's imagination. Emma struggles to explain herself in the present as Charlie and his friends point out more red flags, like the accusation that Emma doesn't have any "real friends" of her own. She becomes a mystery to us as Borgli's script sides with Charlie through the perspective shift, leaving Emma alone in her thoughts and disconnected from her audience.

The Drama dabbles sloppily in misogynoir.  Credit: Courtesy of A24

There's a racial undercurrent to The Drama that Borgli creates but doesn't seem to fully recognize or acknowledge. In the scene where they reveal the worst thing they've ever done, Charlie and Emma are opposite another interracial couple, Rachel and Mike (Mamoudou Athie). Though Rachel, who is white, tells a story of her committing an actual assault, the group is more disturbed by Emma's thought crime. And as the film shifts to what she looked like when she was younger, Borgli engages in colorism, casting the younger Emma as a darker-skinned Black woman with curlier hair.

There's an implication between this casting and Charlie's fear that he now sees Emma as a stereotypical angry Black woman. Though she's never been violent with him, he flinches when Emma picks up a kitchen knife, even though she's making them food. When he looks over a smutty book of women posing with guns, the barrage of white women posing with guns doesn't seem to alarm him. But when he sees a Black woman with a gun, his mind — and thus the edit — flashes to an image of Emma.

This is a connection Charlie — and therefore the movie — will never make aloud. Instead, Charlie suggests that maybe this scares him so much because he's British, and mass shootings are really more of an American thing. While this observation earned a few chuckles at the screening I attended, it's as deep as Borgli is willing to go into the culture clash between the couple. This is frustrating, because while the film seems to be intentionally engaging with the specific fears and anger targeted at Black women, it uses misogynoir and American gun violence as little more than a provocative flare for a story about a shallow man realizing the woman in his life has complexities he can't understand. The woman herself is left to wander mutely through the film's climax as her partner takes the spotlight.

Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are well-matched in The Drama.  Credit: Courtesy of A24

The pair share an easy intimacy in early scenes that paper over how poorly Borgli's script establishes who Emma and Charlie are as individuals or as a couple. Their chemistry allows the film's first act to essentially coast. From there, Zendaya smoothly follows the heartache of her actual Emma and performs the chilly threat Charlie imagines her to be. Pattinson, for his part, embraces playing the fool, throwing his ego aside to go face-first into one bad decision after another, leading to embarrassment and bloodshed.

Borgli's sense of humor doesn't remotely align with mine, so I didn't find The Drama funny. Still, his stars have a sharp comic timing that elevates even his sloppiest concepts. But overall, great performances — including those by a warm Athie, a vicious Haim, and a quizzical Hailey Benton Gates — can't save The Drama from Borgli's fumbling. Borgli and his co-editor Joshua Raymond Lee create kinetic energy through their collisions of past and present, reality and fantasy, and jump cuts from one scene to the next. This all creates a sense of anxiety, but the actual suspense dwindles as Emma is lost amid Charlie's running in circles of panic. It becomes less enticing or exciting and more tedious.

Still, those tired of Hollywood happy endings or whimsical romances might appreciate A24's latest vision of the rocky road to commitment. While I don't feel the film's climax is earned, it is wisely ambiguous. Much like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Drama offers a conclusion that means Emma and Charlie's ending rests in the eye of the beholder. For all the film's fumblings, the ending hits hard.

The Drama opens in theaters April 3.

It's the final day of Amazon's Big Spring Sale, and the clock is ticking. Some of the best deals on laptops, iPads, and headphones have already ended, but we do have one new deal that's arrived at the last minute. It's a tech deal that sounds awesome — quite literally: a $155 discount on the Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise-Cancelling Headphones, the previous-gen version of Sony's flagship model.

We named the Sony XM5 headphones a Mashable Choice product and rated them 4.7/5 in our review, and the new XM6 model (which are no longer on sale, sadly) are only marginally better. So, this is your chance to get flagship-quality cans for under $250.

According to camelcamelcamel, the $243 sale price is $5 lower than these headphones' previous lowest-ever price, making this a new record low. This is also a Lightning Deal at Amazon, meaning this day will be here today and gone tomorrow.

While there is a more advanced version of these headphones available, the difference between those and this discounted pair is marginal. Sony's signature sound is well-known for its quality — pretty much the best sound you can get outside of specialist audiophile tech — which combines with probably the best noise cancellation in existence.

Other great audio features included fully customizable EQ via the Sony Sound Connect app, a massive 30 hours of battery, and a speak-to-chat function that pauses the music whenever you start a conversation IRL. Throw in Alexa and intuitive on-ear touch controls, and these babies offer the best value headphone tech you'll find today.

Don't miss your last chance to get the Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones at a record low price of $243 — a $156.99 discount for the last day of the Amazon Big Spring Sale.

The final day of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale still has plenty of gaming deals, Pokémon discounts, and even price cuts on Samsung and Apple for you to enjoy.

But that's not all, because there are some Magic: The Gathering deals live right now. As of March 31, Amazon has the Magic: The Gathering Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pre-Release Pack listed for $32.01, down from its $39.95 list price. Walmart is lower at $31.99, marked down from $39.99.

Either way, both retailers have pushed this one well below the usual range for this product. In fact, it's the lowest-ever price at Amazon according to price tracker camelcamelcamel.

Each Pre-Release Pack comes with six TMNT Play Boosters, with 14 Magic: The Gathering trading cards in every pack. That makes Walmart’s current deal work out to roughly $5.33 per booster, which is a pretty solid entry point for anyone who has been waiting to crack into the set without jumping straight to a full booster box.

Alongside the six packs, buyers are also getting one traditional foil rare or mythic rare card and a Spindown life counter, giving this more of the feel of a proper sealed-event starter than just a simple bundle of loose packs.

Among other hot Amazon Spring Sale deals in Magic: The Gathering, the Avatar The Last Airbender Play Booster Box is at its lowest-ever price. Meanwhile, you can still snag a Magic: the Gathering Lorwyn Eclipsed’s Play Booster Box for under $120 while stocks last.

It's been 30 years since the masked Ghostface killer's on-screen debut in the iconic slasher film that launched a franchise. Scream has veered in many directions since, but with Scream 7, it goes back to its roots: Final Girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) versus Ghostface.

The seventh installment also brings back Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding as twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, and the legendary Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher from the first film.

If a "hearty dose of nostalgia," as Mashable's entertainment editor puts it, is what you're after, Scream 7 serves it up on a platter. But there's also plenty of new ideas, reveals, and scares to keep it fresh.

If you missed it in theaters or can't wait to watch it again, Scream 7 is officially hitting the small screen this spring. Here's what you need to know to watch it at home.

What is Scream 7 about?

"Scream 7 brings Campbell back to the center of the story, restoring some of the original concept's simplicity," as Mashable's Kristy Puchko writes. Sidney Prescott (Campbell) has left Woodsboro for good and has been living peacefully in Pine Grove, Indiana, with her husband Mark (Joel McHale) and daughter Tatum (Isabel May). But there's no real rest for Sidney in the Scream franchise, is there? Ghostface has set sights on her teenage daughter, and Sidney's forced to confront her past (again) to save Tatum.

Get a glimpse at the latest installment in the official trailer below:

Is Scream 7 worth watching?

A quick glance at Rotten Tomatoes shows a major divide between critics and audiences, with a 31 percent critic rating and 75 percent audience rating. In addition to delivering the biggest box office debut the decades-old horror series has ever seen, it's also become the highest-grossing film in the franchise. So, whether critics like it or not, audiences are showing up for Scream 7.

Mashable's own lead film critic is "elated" with the latest Scream film. "As someone who has long counted Scream as the best of the batch, I yearned for a sequel that recaptured that feeling of discovery but also shared in my affection for the first film. Scream 7 does that, paying homage without being beholden to audience expectation or constrictive lore. Incredibly, Williams gives us a hearty dose of nostalgia and Easter eggs while providing new ideas, weird reveals, and fresh chills," she writes.

How to watch Scream 7 Credit: Paramount Pictures

There are a couple of different ways you can watch Scream 7 at home. You can buy it or rent it at digital-on-demand retailers for as low as $19.99 as of March 31, or you can stream it on Paramount+ at a later date. See all the details below.

Buy or rent it on digital

Scream 7 makes its digital debut on March 31, 2026, which means you can officially buy or rent the movie from on-demand retailers. If you choose to rent, you'll get 30 days to watch the film and just 48 hours to finish it once you start. If you choose to buy it, then it's yours to keep and watch at your own leisure.

Here are some quick links to rent or purchase the film:

Stream it on Paramount+ (at a later date)

Since Scream 7 is a Paramount Pictures film, it will undoubtedly make its streaming debut on Paramount+. The only question is when.

Based on the timeline of other Paramount Pictures films from the theater to the streaming service, we expect Scream 7 to make its Paramount+ debut in late April 2026. We'll update this story with the official streaming date once it's announced.

Paramount+ raised its prices in January 2026, so subscriptions now start at $8.99 per month. However, there are a few different ways you can save, including an annual subscription plan, a student plan, and a third-party partnership. We've rounded up the details below.

You can save 17% on the Paramount+ Essential or Premium plan if you opt for an annual plan for either $89.99 or $139.99 instead. That brings the monthly cost down to just $11.67 instead of $13.99 for the Premium plan or $7.49 instead of $8.99 for the Essential plan. You'll have to pay more upfront, but you'll also get more bang for your buck.

Just be sure to cancel before your trial ends if you want to avoid charges. Most of the year's major flagship TVs announced in January hit the shelves by the end of March, which cues retailers to push deep discounts on last year's models. Amazon's Big Spring Sale (which officially ends tomorrow, March 31) is proving that this annual price drop cycle is very real.

SEE ALSO: What to look for when buying a TV, as told through this easy TV specs guide

It's not just Amazon's in-house Fire TVs that see big discounts during the Big Spring Sale (Amazon Fire TVs are hardly the best TVs you can get for the money right now). I've been tracking new TV releases and comparing TV specs at Mashable for years, and I consistently find that the most worthwhile Amazon TV deals are from solid budget brands like TCL and Hisense, with a few sizes of Samsung's The Frame occasionally thrown in.

Pro tip: Best Buy tends to have way more options for deals on flagship Samsung and LG TVs. For instance, Samsung just released its 2026 Neo QLED TVs on March 24 — Best Buy's stock of on-sale 2025 versions of those TVs, like the QN70F and QN80F, has been much more stable than Amazon's this week. Amazon barely has any recent LG TVs in stock at all, while Best Buy has countless 2024 and 2025 QNED and OLED models on sale.

SEE ALSO: Best Buy’s Tech Fest is over, but these deals are still worth your money

I'll be updating this list with the best Amazon TV deals until the sale officially wraps up. Every model featured here is at, or lower than, its previous best price based on data from camelcamelcamel, so these are genuinely competitive offers. I'm keeping a special eye out for fresh discounts across the models I've picked as the best 65-inch TVs you can buy so far this year.

Best Big Spring Sale TV deal Hisense 75-inch U7 QLED 4K TV $897.96 at Amazon

One TV that's actually beating its previous record-low sale price is the 2025 75-inch Hisense U7. Currently 31% off, it's $103 cheaper than it was just a month ago during Presidents' Day sales.

The 2026 version of the same TV was just unveiled on March 6, so a new price drop on the predecessor model certainly tracks. The 2026 75-inch U7 will cost $1,999.99 — more than $1,000 steeper than the 2025 model's $897.96 sale price. Those are the kind of steals I was talking about. The 65-inch model is also at a new record-low $697.96 if 75 inches is a bit larger than you'd like.

This mini LED model packs a serious punch for the price. Its brightness in SDR and HDR gets consistently great notes across the internet, with glare handling strong enough for most sunlit rooms. You don't always see a 165 Hz refresh rate in budget to mid-range TVs, so the Hisense U7 is a top contender for an XL gaming TV under $1,000.

As Mashable's tech editor, it's my job to test the latest and greatest products from brands like Apple, Samsung, and DJI. But I also get to test cool under-the-radar finds and random gadgets that only true tech nerds know about. For the Amazon Big Spring Sale, I hand-picked a fresh batch of tech deals that are actually worth shopping. I've also included some deals from competing retailers — if they have a better price.

Between inflation, a global memory shortage, and overall economic anxiety (trust me — I'm feeling it, too!), you don't want to miss a chance to save some money.

I've personally tested many of these products, and I'm only recommending products with genuine discounts, because we all know big retailers like to play fast and loose with the definition of the word "deal."

If you're a creator, real estate professional, or wedding photographer who wants to take beautiful aerial videos in 4K — or just an aspiring pilot looking to have some fun outdoors — these drones are by far the most popular choice.

Amazon Echo device deals

As per usual, some of the best deals of the spring Amazon sale are on Amazon's own products, particularly in the Echo lineup. I was at the fall 2025 event where Amazon unveiled its new Echo smart home products, which include refreshes to the popular Echo Dot and Echo Show devices. You can also grab Fire TV Sticks starting at just $17.99, letting you stream movies and enjoy cloud gaming at home.

We've been waiting for this one: Our favorite Bose headphones are finally discounted for the Amazon Spring sale. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra (Gen 2), the brand's current flagship, are supremely comfortable. In fact, our reviewer called them the most comfortable headphones in the world, full stop. And if you need something a little more affordable, their younger sibling is also on sale.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for good deals on my favorite TV: The Frame art TV from Samsung. Strangely, The Frame is more expensive during the big Amazon sale.

For the Big Spring Sale, Amazon is going hard with DJI deals, and you can find massive discounts on the brand's popular line of creator gadgets. I personally use the DJI Mic Mini and DJI Osmo Mobile 7P Gimbal when shooting videos for Mashable (check our Instagram story to see my latest).

As of day six, the cult-favorite DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Vlogging camera, which experienced a rare markdown earlier in this sale, is back up to full price. I'm keeping my eyes out for any last-minute price drops, however. Pro creators and YouTubers are obsessed with this camera (in my review, I wrote, "it should replace whatever vlogging camera you're using now"), so grab it before it goes out of stock again!

As always with these major sale events, we've been on the case non-stop, helping you find the very best deals across all kinds of products. And we've spotted some awesome deals on Apple AirPods — deals that sound as good as Apple audio tech.

The AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4 (both with and without ANC), and first-gen AirPods Max are on sale at Amazon. They're going fast though: AirPods Max 2 have already sold out with a slim discount. And if you don't see the AirPods Max in stock at Amazon, check Target and Walmart.

If you're not looking to drop a ton of cash on new earbuds, one of our favorite deals is on the AirPods 4 without Active Noise Cancellation. These AirPods have dropped to just $114.95 at Amazon, saving you $14.05 on list price. We think these are the best budget earbuds for Apple users. We have to point out, however, that these AirPods were at an even lower price earlier in the sale, so maybe grab them in case they bump all the way back up to full price.

If you had your eye on the AirPods 4 with ANC, the good news is those are also on sale right now. They are currently marked down to just $155.99 at Amazon, or roughly $23 off their original list price of $179. So no matter which option you choose, you can save some cash right now.

The AirPods Pro 3 are some of our favorite earbuds for Apple users, earning spots on both our lists of the best headphones and best earbuds. Our review had high praise for them, with writer Adam Doud calling them, "a remarkable upgrade in functionality over their predecessors, with better battery life and ANC, as well as a new heart rate sensor."

Boasting great sound quality and noise-cancelling features, alongside a hefty battery life that can last up to eight hours (with ANC) on a single charge, these AirPods are a nice upgrade indeed. Ahead of Amazon's Big Spring Sale, they're marked down to $199.

Premium noise-canceling headphones from brands like Sony and Bose are much better value, but AirPods Max are a popular pick nonetheless. (If nothing else, they're super stylish.) Apple announced the AirPods Max 2 with better ANC and smart features earlier this month, and now the first-gen models with USB-C charging are on sale on Amazon for $449.99. That's about $100 off their regular retail price of $549. But it's just the purple colorway available at this price for now — unless you're happy to wait for lengthy delivery times on other color variants.

Note we've seen these go in and out of stock at Amazon during the Big Spring Sale, so check Target and Walmart if you're not having luck with Amazon.

For Apple users, these sale events are always super exciting — it's a rare chance to snag a device for significantly less. But time is ticking if you want to take advantage. There are still discounts on everything from MacBooks to AirPods. And if you've been hoping to get your hands on a brand-new smartwatch but refuse to pay full price, several Apple Watch models are still on sale, with savings of up to $300 on offer.

While Apple's Series 11 and SE 3 are getting attention for being the newest models, a few last-generation models deserve a spotlight during this Big Spring Sale. This is because you can pick up the Apple Watch SE 2 for just $189 (save $60), or the Apple Watch Ultra 2 for $499 (save $300). If you don't mind an older model, they might be the way to go.

I test laptops for a living — these are the best MacBook deals in Amazons Big Spring Sale

Time is running out on Amazon's third annual Big Spring Sale. The sale event wraps up after March 31. But thankfully the deals are still going strong, with epic discounts still available and more price drops coming as the hours tick by.

The Big Spring Sale mainly revolves around seasonal essentials like cleaning supplies and outdoor gear, but it also boasts some very generous deals on must-have tech — including flagship Apple products such as MacBooks. And as Mashable's resident laptop expert, I'm very much on the case with these deals.

Apple actually just refreshed its MacBook lineup earlier this month, announcing updated MacBook Airs and Pros in addition to an all-new budget MacBook Neo. Most configurations of these new releases are seeing their very first (tiny) discounts during the Big Spring Sale, while their predecessors are priced to move at up to $300 off.

SEE ALSO: Amazon's Big Spring Sale is surprisingly good: We found 111+ deals on Apple, DJI, Sony, and Dyson

Keep in mind that Apple has discontinued its last-gen MacBooks, which means they'll only be available on the refurbished market once third-party retailers' inventories dry up. If you see a good deal on an M4 MacBook Air or Pro at Amazon this week, don't wait too long to add it to your cart. A few configurations are starting to go in and out of stock, and they'll likely sell out long before this summer's Prime Day sale hits. With less than 48 hours to go, today is a great day to pull the trigger on a purchase.

I'll continue to monitor Amazon's Big Spring Sale MacBook deals as the sale continues into next week, so check back if nothing catches your eye just yet. Note: Deals marked with a 🔥 have dropped to a record-low price. Deals with a strikethrough are no longer available at the time of writing.

The M4 MacBook Air may be a last-gen laptop, but it's still an incredibly capable ultraportable. (In our testing, it proved much faster than much pricier Windows laptops.) It has the same 12MP Center Stage webcam, Liquid Retina display, and 18-hour battery life as its new M5 counterpart, which just offers slightly faster performance and newer wireless connectivity. This 15-inch configuration with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage has never been cheaper.

Nine bucks off barely counts as a discount, but this is the best MacBook Neo deal I've seen outside of the Apple Store itself. (You can get $100 off there, but only if you're a college student, a parent of one, or school faculty.) This colorful little laptop has the same premium aluminum build as any other MacBook, and it boasts incredibly impressive single-core performance; in basic everyday tasks like web browsing, it's just as fast as an M4 MacBook Air. This particular model comes with Touch ID. It's worth noting that this discount only applies to the indigo and silver colorway variants.

A MacBook Pro has more ports and a brighter, smoother display than a MacBook Air. It's also better at handling heavier workloads (like video editing) over a long period of time since it has fans. I recommend it as an upgrade pick for power users like content creators and developers. This current-gen M5 model is well future-proofed with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It's only $50 away from its record-low price from December.

Another configuration with an older, but more powerful M4 Pro chip is still in stock at the same price, though it comes with half the storage.

Amazon's Big Spring Sale is back for its third consecutive year, but there are just two days left — the sale wraps up after March 31. Thankfully, deals are still going strong, with price drops on such items as robot vacuums, TVs, and all kinds of daily essentials. And if there's one thing we can always guarantee, it's that this sale features a raft of much welcome deals on highly sought-after Apple devices.

Apple has kept us very busy so far in 2026. We've been hard at work testing the first-ever budget Neo MacBook, as well as the upgraded MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros, a new iPad Air, and the iPhone 17e. Next on our Apple to-do list: the AirPods Max 2.

With so many new Apple products, we're seeing a bunch of first-time discounts during the Amazon Spring Sale, as well as new record-low prices on last-gen models like the Apple Watch SE 2 and M4 MacBook Air. What more could you want from a major sale event? Just keep in mind that many of the older models are selling out fast at Amazon. If the model you want is no longer available, be sure to check the stock at Best Buy and Walmart. These retailers are matching many of the best Spring Sale deals.

We'll be tracking prices on AirPods, MacBooks, and iPads for the final two days of the sale, so keep checking back on this page for info on the lowest-possible prices across Apple products.

We've always been fans of the AirPods Pro, but the third generation really takes them to new heights. Mashable's reviewer called them, "without a doubt, one of the best products of the year" in 2025.

The latest premium buds feature outstanding noise cancellation (twice as good as the Pro 2), a solid eight hours of battery life with ANC on, and new foam-infused tips that come in five sizes to find the perfect fit. Apple also brought the heart rate monitoring tech from the Powerbeats Pro 2 (our favorite earbuds for working out) and Fitness app compatibility to the new AirPods Pro 3, and introduced a live translation feature.

While we've seen the buds drop as low as $184 in the past, this Amazon spring sale discount is still worth grabbing.

Apple released its new MacBook Air with the M5 chip this month, but honestly, they're not a whole lot different than the M4 Airs. The Apple Watch Series 11 offers significant battery improvements over its predecessor. For that reason alone, it's worth the upgrade. It also features a tougher build with durable glass that's twice as resistant to scratches, 5G capability for quicker connectivity, and a Sleep Score and hypertension tool that can flag chronic high blood pressure. It's not a major upgrade (is anything in 2026?), but as Mashable's reviewer put it: "Buy it for the battery life." Now $100 cheaper, it's an even better value.

The sun is rising, flowers are beginning to bloom, and pollen is in the air (so much pollen). This all means spring is finally here, and Amazon is celebrating in its customary fashion: with deals across tons of categories.

We're nearing the end of the third annual Amazon Big Spring Sale, with discounts set to run through March 31, just like last year. The Amazon Spring Sale is your best chance to save until Prime Day in July (or maybe June?), so don't miss out. The further we get into the sale, prices are frequently fluctuating so we're checking and updating products regularly.

The deals featured in this sale reflect the spirit of the season: Outdoor gear and yard care supplies, spring cleaning supplies, spring fashion, and other household essentials will be the major featured deals. We didnt grow up on social media. We grew up on digital nicotine.

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 05:00

I don’t remember much of my life before social media. It took over in seventh grade and my individual style started bending toward whatever the algorithm pushed to the top.

My wants were no longer my own but reflections of what Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube algorithmically advertised as desirable. Sleepovers that used to be chaotic with pillow fights and hide‑and-seek were replaced by late‑night scrolling sessions, my friends and I quietly measuring ourselves against everyone else. Social media was supposed to give my generation a lifeline: A way to stay close, to find community, to express ourselves. Instead, tech executives created digital nicotine instead of real digital communities, engineered to tap into our insecurities and keep us coming back.

By the time we realized what it was doing to us, it already felt impossible to put it down. Infinite scroll, autoplay that makes stopping feel like an interruption, notifications calibrated to pull us back at our most vulnerable moments — these weren’t accidents. They were design decisions. Decisions meant to keep us hooked.

Now, for the first time, Big Tech executives have been forced to defend those design decisions in court, and a jury has made something clear: This harm was real and not accidental. The verdict marks a turning point, a signal that the era of Big Tech operating without consequence is beginning to crack.

SEE ALSO: Meta, YouTube found guilty of negligence in history-making social media addiction trial

But even before that verdict, something bigger had already started to shift. Inside that courtroom, one young plaintiff was barging through doors that were never meant to open. She made visible what millions of us lived through silently.

And she is not alone.

We see ourselves in her. We see our friends. We see the filtered selfies, the 2 a.m. scrolling, the comparison spirals, the quiet shame. These are not edge cases. They are not outliers. Big Tech’s platforms don’t discriminate. When a platform is designed to manipulate, everyone is vulnerable.

Because what we grew up with was not neutral technology. It was technology designed for maximum engagement at any cost.

Evidence from these cases shows that Big Tech followed Big Tobacco’s playbook: Addict them young to create lifelong consumers, no matter the cost to their lives. Their business model didn’t just deprioritize young people’s wellbeing — it depended on our lack of it to sell products.

SEE ALSO: 'Wired' cover on tech's 'gay mafia' ignites controversy

I recently read whistleblower Sarah Wynn‑Williams’ memoir, Careless People. She revealed that Meta could detect when teen girls deleted a selfie, reading it as a moment of low self‑esteem, and then prompt beauty brands to target them with ads at that exact moment. It wasn’t an accident. So I have to wonder how many Instagram ads I was served when I felt the worst about myself. Was the face serum, lip kit, or lip filler I bought with my limited income exactly what Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri designed?

I came out as gay before Caitlyn Jenner came out as trans. When she publicly debuted her transition, I didn’t have the words for why it hit me so hard. It wasn’t jealousy. It wasn’t resentment. It was that overnight, she became my Kendall Jenner — the glossy, perfected, impossible image of womanhood that a closeted trans girl like me was supposed to aspire to.

Girls my age were drowning in Kendall’s edited photos and endless beauty ads. I was drowning in a trans version of the same thing. Caitlyn appeared effortlessly beautiful, and I bought product after product trying to chase even a fraction of that feeling. Every time I took a selfie and got called a slur, Instagram responded by pushing more beauty ads at me instead of community or creators who could’ve helped me understand myself.

Sarah Wynn‑Williams’ revelations make the pattern clear: Meta saw our lowest moments and treated them as sales opportunities. They could have protected us. They could have connected us. Instead, they monetized the wound.

We were children when we first downloaded these apps. Our brains were still developing. Our sense of self was still forming. And yet we were placed inside systems engineered to override self-control and exploit social validation.

That’s why these trials matter.

They aren’t just about one young plaintiff or one tragic story. They’re about thousands of families demanding accountability — and now, with this verdict, proving that accountability is possible. They’re about internal documents that companies tried to hide now becoming public. They’re about executives being forced to answer questions under oath rather than hide behind PR statements.

The verdict is a milestone — but it’s not the finish line. The truth being exposed is what makes lasting change possible. The courtroom doors finally being open is what ensures this doesn’t stop here.

Every day, more cases are filed. Every day, more children are harmed. Pressure will not let up until Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and Snap fix their addictive products.

People need to understand that this isn’t an attack on social connection or creativity. The problem is that Big Tech built the digital equivalent of nicotine instead of designing ways for people to enjoy short‑form media without being trapped by it. I don’t need endless scroll or autoplay to enjoy fan edits of my favorite shows. I don’t need an algorithm to serve me a sad dog video because it knows I’ll need a mood booster before closing the app. I’m not trying to get rid of the joy — I’m trying to get rid of the traps.

There is a future without the bad stuff — and this verdict is proof that we can start to build it.

Does your digital life feel like it’s constantly hitting a limit — “storage full,” upgrade prompts, files scattered across platforms? You’re definitely not alone. The way we store data hasn’t quite kept up with how much we create.

That’s what makes a 100TB lifetime cloud storage plan stand out. Internxt is offering exactly that for $974.97 (reg. $9,900), but only through March 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

This is about space and control. Internxt is built around privacy-first storage, using end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge architecture. That means your files are encrypted before they leave your device, and only you can access them. Not even Internxt can see what you store. It’s also fully open-source, so its code is publicly available for transparency — something you don’t always see with mainstream cloud providers.

And then there’s the scale. 100TB is enough to store massive photo libraries, 4K video archives, backups, work files, and everything in between — without constantly managing space or deleting older content.

You can access your files across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, or a web browser, making it easy to stay synced no matter what device you’re using. Internxt also uses post-quantum encryption, designed to stay secure even as computing power evolves, so this isn’t just storage for today, but for the long term.

It’s worth noting this plan is for new users only and focuses specifically on cloud storage (additional features like email or backups are separate). But if your priority is secure, private, long-term storage, that’s exactly what this delivers.

If you’ve been looking for a way to simplify your storage — and stop thinking about it altogether — this is about as future-proof as it gets.

Get lifetime access to 100TB of Internxt cloud storage for $974.97 (reg. $9,900) through March 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
