Finn Wolfhard is hosting SNL this week, and the Stranger Things jokes have already begun.
In one of several rapidfire promos above, alongside musical guest A$AP Rocky and SNL staff member Sarah Sherman, Wolfhard asks the others to rate how excited they are from a scale of one to ten — but both keep answering "eleven".
"Are you guys doing a bit?" says an exasperated Wolfhard. "Like, from Stranger Things?"
"Er, I only know about normaler things," is Sherman's response.
As Americans continue to struggle with rising grocery prices in Donald Trump's economy, the White House is offering up some groundbreaking "tips" for saving money at meal times. In a widely derided interview, agriculture secretary Brooke Rollins suggested families could both adhere to the Trump administration's new dietary guidelines and only spend $3 on a meal consisting of "a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, you know, a corn tortilla, and one other thing."
"I love to sit down for dinner with my family and dig into a healthy plate that consists of one piece of chicken, one piece of broccoli, one corn tortilla, and because we're f***ing rolling in it, one other thing," responded Seth Meyers on Late Night on Thursday. "That list is so bad I'm guessing the 'one other thing' is a single French fry you have to wrestle away from a pigeon in a McDonald's parking lot.
"Seriously, 'one piece of chicken, one piece of broccoli, and one corn tortilla' is your recommendation to Americans for what they should eat. That sounds like a meal aliens would bring to your cell after they abduct you. 'Please enjoy some of your Earth foods. You will need your strength for the probing.'"
Meyers also pointed out that Rollins said her team ran "over 1,000 simulations" to come up with this novel $3 meal idea.
"I'm sorry, you had to run over 1,000 simulations to add up the cost of three grocery items? Don't use the computer for that! That's not what the computer is for!" he said. "Also, what do you mean 'it can cost $3' — in how many of the simulations did it cost more? 'In one simulation, there was a corn virus, and the chickens ate the corn, and all the chickens died, and it was like a million dollars.'"
Welcome to your guide to Pips, the latest game in the New York Times catalogue.
Released in August 2025, the Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.
Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move onto the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level.
How to play PipsIf you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity for how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.
SEE ALSO: Wordle today: Answer, hints for January 16, 2026The conditions you have to meet are specific to the color-coded spaces. For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible – and common – for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space.
Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:
Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.
Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips.
Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.
Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.
Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number.
If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.

So, when a tricky clue disrupts a player's flow, it can be frustrating! If you find yourself stumped playing The Mini — much like with Wordle and Connections — we have you covered.

Donald Trump has threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would allow him to send U.S. military forces into Minnesota. The president did so in a Truth Social post on Thursday, following protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the state and across the country demanding justice after the killing of 37-year-old mother Renee Good in Minneapolis by an ICE agent.
Stephen Colbert reacted to Trump's threat during his Late Show monologue on Thursday night.
"With Minnesota under siege by masked, armed goons victimising American citizens, Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act. Well, that will calm everybody down," he said. "I'm sure Minnesotans will just love that. That's why all the protesters' signs say, 'ICE go home, then come back in a tank.'"
Colbert then explained the Insurrection Act to his audience:
"Fun fact, the Insurrection Act allows the president to deploy members of the military or federalise the state National Guard to contain an insurrection in the U.S. state and hold on...hold on...I'm being given a correction: That fact was not fun. My mistake."
Jimmy Kimmel has a theory about what Donald Trump's "master plan" is, assuming there's one at all — and in the clip above the late night host paints a pretty bleak picture.
"I never believe there's some big master plan, but maybe there is," he says in the Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue above.
"Maybe it goes something like this: Step one, you call your opponents 'vermin,' and 'violent,' and 'the enemy within.' You say they're part of a group of paid protesters called Antifa. Step two, you send a bunch of poorly trained, heavily armed goons into cities that don't need or want them there. Step three, when the people inevitably protest being occupied by their own government, you accuse them of starting an insurrection and then step four, you invoke the Insurrection Act, you call out the military, you cancel the elections, and you take charge for good."
Given the deaths and injuries that have been happening recently at the hands of ICE agents, and Trump recently "joking" about canceling the midterms, his theory doesn't feel entirely speculative.
Biopics aren't the only way to honor an artist's music, and Craig Brewer's (Hustle & Flow, Dolemite Is My Name) Song Sung Blue is living proof. It stars Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman as a married couple and Neil Diamond cover band out of Milwaukee. Mashable's entertainment editor calls it "uplifting, heart-wrenching, and wondrous all at once." And, yes, there are plenty of Diamond songs to enjoy throughout the film.
Song Sung Blue also stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Jayson Warner Smith, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.
It's still floating around in theaters, but if you prefer to watch it from your couch, here are all the streaming details you need to know.
What is Song Sung Blue about?Based on the incredible true story of Lightning and Thunder, a Neil Diamond cover band, Song Sung Blue follows Mike and Claire Sardina (Jackman and Hudson) as the musical married couple. "Together they craft electric chemistry, rousing song numbers, and a love story that hits with the force of a runaway car," writes Mashable's Kristy Puchko. Ultimately, it tells the story of how love and music can help us overcome tragedy and trauma. Bring tissues.
Check out the official trailer below:
Is Song Sung Blue worth watching? If you're a lover of Neil Diamond, then of course Song Sung Blue is worth watching. If not, you'll still probably love it. It currently has a solid 77 percent critic rating and a super impressive 97 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"All this makes for a feel-good movie that can be jarringly intense, because the bad times can come out of nowhere. (C'est la vie!) But like a great Neil Diamond song, Song Sung Blue will find its way into your heart, where it will linger," Puchko writes in her review.
We named it one of our favorite movies of 2025, crediting its thoughtful storytelling, wonderful cast, and "smartly chosen soundtrack that places the performances of Diamond's songs thematically." Hudson already earned a nod at the Golden Globes for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — could she earn an Oscar nomination as well?
