Aura farming? Fanum tax? 2025s most viral internet slang, explained

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 09:57

Each year, the internet births a new lexicon, one that's as fast-moving and unpredictable as the online trends that fuel it. 2025 is no different, with a fresh crop of viral slang that’s quickly become shorthand for everything from viral moments to internet culture’s quirks.

More than words, these phrases are creative expressions of identity in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Whether you're on TikTok, Twitch, or the latest meme loop, these are the terms that have dominated conversations among Gen Z and Gen Alpha this year.

SEE ALSO: The cult and community of Labubu

Buckle up, because we’re about to break down the slang that’s defining 2025. You're about to hear these words everywhere, whether you’re ready or not.

Aura farming

Aura farming is the art of cultivating an undeniable, magnetic energy that draws people in. It’s all about crafting a vibe so strong and captivating that others can’t help but be pulled into your orbit. Whether it's exuding confidence, radiating charm, or just owning the room, aura farming is often used to elevate one’s status and influence.

While the phrase technically evolved from a 2024 meme, it truly peaked this year. A prime example? Sung Jinwoo, the protagonist of Solo Leveling, who’s become the internet’s unofficial king of aura farming. His journey is all about leveling up, both in power and presence, as he faces stronger dungeon bosses. In a sense, the entire anime is one big exercise in aura farming, a constant evolution of strength and influence, perfectly embodying the idea.

Cook, cooking, cooked

When someone says "let me cook," they’re preparing to flex their skills or impress with a creative idea or a solution. It’s the digital equivalent of saying, "Let me show you what I can do." Whether it’s a fire take or a dope outfit, you’ll know they’re about to serve something incredible.

But cooking isn’t always a win. In a different context, when someone says they’re "cooked," it means they're out of options, overworked, or done for — like they’ve been taken to their limit. In a way, it’s the inverse: where "let me cook" invites success and flair, "I'm cooked" signals that it's all over for them. Alternatively, you could also say, "I'm fried."

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed. Fanum tax

If you're not familiar with this quirky phrase, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Born from the antics of Twitch streamer and former AMP collective member Fanum, "Fanum tax" is a silly way to describe that cheeky act of snagging a bite of someone else’s food, without asking. (You gotta pay the Fanum tax!) Explaining the phrase to GQ, Fanum simply said, "Feed your friends, bro."

But beyond the simple act of food theft, this term has morphed into a bit of a phenomenon, extending its reach to describe everything from friendship dynamics to viral TikTok trends. It's become a phrase to insert, often ironically, into just about anything.

Clock it

"Clock it" is all about drawing attention to something noteworthy. It’s a call to remember, an invitation to keep something in mind for later, like a spoiler for a big twist or a prediction that’s about to come true. It's the ultimate way of saying, "I told you so," but with a more stylish flair.

Ate, chewed, nibbled

When something "eats," it means it was so good that there’s nothing left to improve upon. Eating and leaving no crumbs means absolute perfection, whether we’re talking about a performance, a look, or a viral moment. It’s a way of giving top-tier praise, acknowledging that what just went down was next level.

SEE ALSO: A parent's guide to Skibidi Toilet: What is it and why is it so popular?

Originally coined within LGBTQ+ communities, particularly Black and Latinx ballroom culture, "ate" was a term used to describe moments of excellence. Over time, it made its way into the mainstream lexicon, where it now signifies a flawless execution. But here's where things get interesting: the evolution of "ate" has introduced new internet phrases like "she chewed" and "she nibbled." These are used when something is still impressive, but maybe not quite as flawless. It’s a tiered approach to praise — "she chewed" is close, but not quite the perfect "ate," and "she nibbled" signals that it was good, but there’s room for more.

Mewing

Mewing, a technique originally linked to reshaping your jawline by positioning your tongue in a certain way, has been floating around the internet for a while now, particularly in DIY beauty and wellness circles. But in 2025, it's taken on a new form. Teenage boys, especially, have turned "mewing" into a reason for not participating in class. Essentially, they're too busy mewing to talk or contribute. It’s become a tongue-in-cheek excuse, allowing them to avoid answering questions or doing any actual work.

This unexpected use of the term shows how internet slang can evolve in unpredictable ways, morphing from a niche beauty trend into a full-blown classroom strategy.

Mogger

Mogger is the term for someone who effortlessly makes others look like background characters simply by standing next to them. It comes from the verb mogging, which means to outshine or overshadow someone in terms of looks. If you’ve ever felt like your glow-up evaporated the moment a ridiculously good-looking friend walked into the room, congratulations: you’ve been mogged.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

A mugger is a person blessed with top-tier genetics, symmetrical features, or a jawline sharp enough to slice through glass. This term floats around in online spaces obsessed with appearance, like "looksmaxxing" (the art of optimizing one’s looks) and mewing (see above).

Alien: Earth trailer teases new, horrifying aliens

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 09:46

If you're looking for a peaceful night's sleep, we suggest you stay far, far away from the trailer for FX's Alien: Earth. But if you're looking for grotesque science fiction and the promise of some gnarly new monsters, you've come to the right place.

SEE ALSO: Summer TV preview: All the TV shows you need to know, and where to stream them

Created by Noah Hawley, the Emmy-winning creator of Fargo and Legion, this Alien prequel doesn't take us to the deepest reaches of space. Instead, it brings extraterrestrial terror right to our home planet.

The horrors start when a Weyland-Yutani deep space research vessel crash lands in Prodigy city, named for the Prodigy Corporation. Prodigy CEO Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) decides he wants to take possession of whatever is on that ship, so he sends a team of soldiers to take stock of the wreckage.

These aren't ordinary soldiers, though. They're hybrids: humanoid robots implanted with human consciousness. That sets them apart from the Alien films' synthetics, which are humanoid robots with artificial consciousness.

Prodigy's team of hybrids may be faster, stronger, and more resilient than other humans, but they're about to meet their match as they explore the crashed USCSS Maginot. As Alien: Earth's trailer reveals, the Maginot collected five monstrous life forms from across the universe. But now they're escaped captivity, meaning Earth is in serious trouble.

Alien: Earth's trailer doesn't spoil too much about its alien adversaries, but there are enough hints at their appearance to send chills up your spine. Tentacled eyeballs, egg sacs, and goo abound, along with flashes of the iconic Xenomorph.

Produced by Alien director Ridley Scott, Alien: Earth also stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sanda Yi Sencindiver.

Alien: Earth premieres Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX.

Grindr is testing AI chat summaries for paid users

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 09:09

Grindr just dropped new product updates like features for faster hookups (Right Now) and to hide users from their exes (Profile Hide), and it's not stopping. The most well-known gay dating app has a long product roadmap for 2025, including AI-powered chat summaries that look a bit like Gmail's.

AI is everywhere right now, including dating apps. Tinder's incoming CEO, Spencer Rascoff, mentioned the app leaning into AI both on LinkedIn at the Wall Street Journal's Future of Everything conference. At the event, Grindr CEO George Arison said much of the same, following a report in the Journal last October that stated Grindr is testing an AI "wingman."

SEE ALSO: From Grindr to Scruff: The best dating apps for gay, bi, and queer men What is Grindr's A-List?

While the full-on wingman is still in testing to 10,000 users (of Grindr's 14.5 million average monthly active users), the app is releasing AI-driven features at an increasing clip — both in beta and in full. Right Now, a feature to check who is online and available at that moment (hence "right now") has recently launched to all Grindr users.

A feature currently in beta is A-List, a short list of best matches curated by AI. A-List also includes both profile and chat summaries with "key takeaways." Users can also filter matches by Online, Met Up, and Contenders. The A-List beta is currently only available to around a quarter of Grindr's Unlimited users, the more expense paid tier on Grindr at $39.99/month (XTRA is $19.99/month.)

In an interview with Mashable, Arison said that the initial reaction to A-List has been positive. Users signing up for Unlimited and reactivating it have increased, though the Grindr CEO wouldn't say by how much.

On Reddit, however, the reaction to A-List is mostly negative, with multiple users complaining that it's "useless" and that its preceding feature — favorites — was free. Grindr reiterated to Mashable that more than 70 percent of early access users reported they found A-List useful.

Even more AI on Grindr

Another Grindr feature in beta is Discover, which lets users look at profiles from around the world (as opposed to only in their area). This, along with Travel Pass (which lets you Roam a travel destination before getting there, and boost your profile) and the Explore Heatmap (which shows gay hotspots around the world), aims to help users find others on Grindr when they travel.

For You, yet another feature on the roadmap, gives users curated match choices.

Arison hinted at other features that aren't on the extensive roadmap, too. While Right Now fits well within Grindr's reputation as a hookup app, Arison said that, according to Grindr's own surveys, people have other intentions on the app too, like trying to find a partner. In a survey last fall of 1,200 gay and bi men, Grindr found that around a quarter under 35 want to have kids.

Grindr intends to test more features (incorporating AI, of course) with these varying intentions in mind by the end of the year. It's part of Grindr's plan to be the app users spend the most time on in a sea of other options.

Last year, Mashable reported that complaints about Grindr are rising, given more paywalled features and product issues.

Meta shows just how much tech it crammed into its Aria Gen 2 smart glasses

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 08:58

Meta's got a pair of smart glasses that are so packed with bleeding edge tech, they truly deserve the "smart" moniker.

Announced earlier this year, the Aria Gen 2 are Meta's "research glasses," meaning they probably won't be available to the general public any time soon. However, the technologies used will probably bleed into Meta's other projects like Orion. In a new blog post Wednesday, Meta revealed some of the capabilities it managed to build into these fairly regular-looking glasses.

SEE ALSO: Apple smart glasses could come as soon as 2026

The Aria Gen 2 glasses are equipped with an array of cameras, including one for eye-tracking and four computer vision cameras, seven spatial mics, a barrage of sensors including an ambient light sensor, a barometer, a heart rate monitor, and stereo speakers. The glasses themselves are fairly lightweight, weighing 74 to 76 grams, depending on size.

Meta puts all that hardware to good use. The company says the four computer vision cameras produce a wider field of view and enable advanced 3D hand and object tracking. The new ambient light sensor also aids computer vision and processing, as its ultraviolet mode can distinguish between indoor and outdoor lighting.

The four CV cameras cover a wider field of view with a larger overlap compared to Aria Gen 1's two CV cameras. Credit: Meta

The company says it uses SubGHz radio technology to broadcast timing information, so that it can align time and minimize delay between other Aria Gen 2 devices or compatible devices that support this tech.

The glasses also have an advanced eye tracking system that knows when the wearer is blinking or when their pupils dilate. And the photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, built into the nosepad, enables the glasses to track the wearer's heart rate.

Meta says it will open up applications that work with Aria Gen 2 "later this year," and researchers who'd like to try out the tech can sign up for the Aria Gen 2 interest list.

The advances listed above are notable as other manufacturers, including Apple, reportedly race to build their own version of lightweight smart glasses. Judging by the work that Meta's engineers have put into the Aria Gen 2, Apple will have to push hard to match or surpass them.

We'll probably find out more about the Aria Gen 2 smart glasses in a week, as Meta plans to showcase them during the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) which starts June 11 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Seth Meyers takes A Closer Look at Musk and Trumps U-turn

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 06:31

Just days after stepping back from running his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for Donald Trump, Elon Musk has been openly critical of Trump's tax and spending bill, writing on X, "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination." Though Trump hasn't publicly reacted, reports suggest conditions are stormy.

It's quite the U-turn for Musk, who spent almost $300 million to get Trump elected, then fired over 280,000 government workers through DOGE and shuttered government agencies, including USAID, among other things. But he got a key, at least.

On Late Night, Seth Meyers took "A Closer Look" at Musk and Trump's relationship and time together in the Oval Office, and it's hard to believe it's all over four months.

"Clearly for Elon Musk, this was all about power and self-enrichment because when it comes to his actual stated beliefs, the things he claims to care about, he achieved nothing," said Meyers. "And in the process, he was used and discarded by so many before him by Donald Trump."

In the latter, Mashable's Stan Schroeder said, "As an upgrade to the original Move, the Sonos Move 2 is excellent. It has longer battery life (not as long as advertised, though), stereo sound, and line-in input. It also sounds absolutely stellar, surpassing most home speakers I've heard."

Don't miss out on this limited-time deal on the Sonos Move 2 at Amazon.

Switch 2 error code 2813-0171: Why Mario Kart World is not downloading

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 05:05

Got a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 (we're jealous, by the way; these things aren't easy to get), and you're trying to download the Mario Kart World game only to be bathed in disappointment after getting an error message? We feel you.

Users on Reddit are reporting that they're unable to download Mario Kart World. Instead, they're getting the "Error Code: 2813-0171" along with a message that the product "hasn't been released yet."

So what's up with that? Well, we don't know for sure. As some users have pointed out, it could just be the time zone difference, as Mario Kart World launched today, on June 5, but perhaps not until a certain time on the U.S. Pacific Coast. This would be weird but not unheard of; as one Redditor pointed out, "it is a typical Nintendo kind of ridiculous."

Some users say that the launch time was 12:01 a.m. PST (roughly two hours ago at writing time), and that the title should be available to download now. Some say they're still seeing the same error code, though, so it's unclear whether there's an additional but at play here or not.

SEE ALSO: Where to buy Nintendo Switch 2 online: Check every listing at Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop

Mario Kart World is a kart racing game that's one of the launch titles for Nintendo's new Switch 2 console. However, Nintendo is stretching the "launch title" definition here as some users have had the Switch 2 for hours now, and are still unable to play.

For now, it appears that all users can do is wait for the Mario Kart World game to be marked as released by Nintendo; hopefully someone at Nintendo will wake up soon and start working on this issue, as the complaints are piling up quickly.

Indeed job offer scam texts are on the rise. How to spot them and what to do.

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 05:05

Scammers constantly change and adapt tactics. When E-Z Pass toll scams became a trending topic, scammers started sending DMV and speeding ticket collection texts instead. The latest ploy: sending scam texts from job services like Indeed, offering jobs and quick cash.

According to Google Trends data on popular internet searches in the United States, searches for the term “indeed scam texts” have increased 550 percent in the past 12 months, with a sharp spike beginning around May 11.

To be abundantly clear: These Indeed texts are likely scams, and you should not respond, click any links, or call or message any phone numbers included in the text. The scammers have nothing to do with Indeed itself, a popular online job search platform, and the company has an FAQ for people with questions about Indeed text scams.

What is the scam and how to spot it?

Typically speaking, the scams have surfaced as texts. The sender poses as someone with the career service Indeed and offers the receiver a job or asks for personal info. Here's an example text of the scam received by an editor at Mashable. (We've redacted the sender's info, but it was from a sketchy email address with a relatively generic name.)

Credit: Screenshot: Mashable

Remember: the folks at Indeed will almost certainly not be randomly offering you a job over text, even if you've recently applied for a job there. These scams have become prevalent enough, however, that Indeed has an entire page devoted to them on its site. In general, it notes that folks may pose as an Indeed employee or a potential employer. Indeed also warns users that the scammers often create a false sense of urgency (e.g. claiming your account may be deleted), ask for personal credentials, or ask you to click a link or communicate via a non-Indeed channel. Some of these scams have asked folks to contact a number via WhatsApp or Telegram, which is also a red flag, since those platforms are harder to trace.

To be clear: Indeed will not contact you in this manner, and all potential employers should be communicating through Indeed, unless you give them your phone number. It's worth noting that the Indeed scam isn't the only job offer scam out there. Look around online and you'll see other apparent examples that are very similar in nature.

These types of job offer scams are particularly insidious because they take advantage of people who may be struggling financially. A job offer promising quick cash for product testing or data entry is very tempting, yet it can leave the victim even worse off.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed. This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed. This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

In general, to spot these scams, take a beat and look at the message. They're often from a very sketchy source, either a random phone number or email address. It has that in common with other SMS scams, like the super-common, fake E-ZPass texts. The messages often promise a job for no reason, which, frankly, is too good to be true — another hallmark of scams.

What to do if you get the scam Indeed text

First and foremost, do not click any links or communicate with the scammers. They're looking to steal your info or trick you into sending money, and clicking links is the easiest way to do so. You should simply delete the text and report it as junk. Indeed also recommends blocking the number and reporting the issue with the Federal Trade Commission.

Overall, these scams are preying on folks' need for a job. And it makes sense that you'd hand over personal info to a potential employer. But be warned: the Indeed job offer texts, and others like it, are scams.

Sure, you're excited to finally hold your new Switch 2 in your hands, but why stop there? The best Switch 2 accessories will make sure you squeeze every last drop of fun out of the new Nintendo console — if you can get one in the first place.

The buzz around the Nintendo Switch 2 has been exciting, heartbreaking, and chaotic all at the same time. First, we had an announcement, then a tariff delay, and then pandemonium during pre-orders. We also cried about the price ($80 for Mario Kart World?), but got over it once we compared it to our inflated grocery bills. After all, this is our happiness we're talking about, and don't we deserve something nice in 2025?

We commend your valiant efforts if you've been able to secure a Switch 2 pre-order that hasn't been cancelled. If you were less successful with a pre-order, there's always waiting in line at a brick-and-mortar location on launch day. You can also check our guide on where to buy the Switch 2 online after the June 5 launch.

A tenacious space firm is about to land on the moon. You can watch.

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 05:00

A private Japanese space company will try to land an uncrewed robotic spacecraft on the moon and deliver a rover to its surface today, after a failed attempt in April 2023

Landing on the moon remains onerous — demonstrated by numerous flopped landings. Though Firefly Aerospace succeeded in landing in March, another U.S. company, Intuitive Machines, didn't fare as well, ending up on its side in a crater less than a week later.

Tokyo company ispace has been waiting for this day for the so-called Hakuto-R mission for roughly 4.5 months. Its spacecraft, Resilience, was one of two spacecraft headed to the moon on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in mid-January. Its travel companion, Firefly's Blue Ghost lander, took a faster route and touched down on the surface March 2. Though Firefly wasn't the trailblazer — the first private robotic lander to make the journey to the surface happened last year — it was the first to get its lander there upright and in one piece.

But ispace's lander has taken a longer journey to save on fuel — and the company knows all too well how crucial that is: After a post-flight investigation, the company said its first lander crashed because it ran out of fuel on the way down, unable to control its landing.

Here's how to watch the second-chance event. SEE ALSO: Private spacecraft circling moon snaps photo with strange optical illusion This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

The Hakuto-R mission is gearing up for a landing near the center of Mare Frigoris, aka the Sea of Cold, at 3:17 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 5 (that's 4:24 a.m. on June 6 in Japan).

Livestream coverage will begin about one hour earlier, at 2:10 p.m. ET, with English translation.

The public can also watch on X, the social platform owned by SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

Or you can bookmark this story and come back here to watch the broadcast below:

Landing on the moon is difficult because of its exosphere, which provides virtually no drag to slow a spacecraft down as it approaches the ground. What's more, there are no GPS systems on the moon to help guide a craft to its landing spot. Engineers have to compensate for those challenges from 239,000 miles away.

Over 55? AT&Ts new unlimited plan for seniors (and not quite seniors) costs $35/month.

Mashable - Thu, 06/05/2025 - 05:00

AT&T has a seriously good offer for customers who are 55 and older — a new $40 per month unlimited plan.

And if you're not quite ready to embrace senior status (and the discounts that come with it), you don't need to worry. AT&T calls it the 55+ plan.

Opens in a new window Credit: AT&T AT&T 55+ plan Plans start at $40 for a single line and $35 for two lines Get Deal About the AT&T 55+ unlimited plan

After you've blown out the birthday candles on your 55th birthday, you can sign up for AT&T's newest plan. For anyone 55 and up, the plan comes in at $40 per month for a single line, which offers unlimited texts, calls, and data in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The age-restricted plan also comes with 10GB of hotspot data per line, which slows to 128Kbps for anything over the 10 gigs. AT&T mentions the plan comes with 5G access and SD streaming. The plan also includes AT&T ActiveArmor security, which targets spam calls, texts, and emails.

Those who sign up for two lines are in for an even better deal. The same perks of the $40 per month plan apply, but the price drops to $35 per month per line when you get two lines. Keep in mind that the $35 and $40 per line pricing plans apply to those who sign up for automatic payments with paperless bills.

The best tech deals to shop this week

We're gonna ignore the fact that cell phone companies think 55 and up is "senior-discount" territory, but we love any type of savings, so let's compare a few other options. Verizon offers a 55+ plan, but only those who live in Florida are eligible. That plan offers unlimited data, calls, and texts, and it comes in at $62 per month for one line. It also comes with unlimited hotspot tethering, unlike the AT&T cap at 10GB before getting throttled.

T-Mobile's basic plan for those 55+ costs $45 per month and offers unlimited talk and text with 50GB of high-speed data and unlimited hotspot tethering on its 3G network. You're also covered for unlimited talk and texts in Canada and Mexico with unlimited data at 128Kbps.

Boiled down, the AT&T plan offers an attractive price for those who want unlimited texts, calls, and data. The slight downside to the plan is the 10GB of hotspot data before getting throttled to 128Kbps. That'll be fine for emails, but don't expect any streaming or speedy image loading. Otherwise, the new AT&T 55+ plan is a great deal.

Here's what's new on streaming, from worst to best.

Honorable mention: The Tonys

Sunday, June 8 marks the biggest night for theater (and theater kids). That's right, it's time for the Tony Awards! Don't miss your chance to see performances from nominated musicals like Death Becomes Her, Maybe Happy Ending, Gypsy, Sunset Boulevard, and more. Plus, the original cast of Hamilton re-unites to celebrate the musical's 10th anniversary. It's all helmed by Academy Award nominee (and Elphaba extraordinaire) Cynthia Erivo. There's no doubt it'll be spectacular. — Belen Edwards, Entertainment Reporter

How to watch: The Tony Awards air June 8 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+ with Showtime.

9. The Alto Knights

You get two Robert De Niros for the price of one in The Alto Knights, director Barry Levinson's 2025 gangster drama. De Niro takes on the dual roles of real-life crime bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, who go from being the fiercest of friends to the worst of enemies. Their ensuing struggle for control of New York City promises to reshape the Mafia forever.

SEE ALSO: 'The Alto Knights' review: Double Robert De Niro deserves better than the speedrun treatment

Between De Niro, Levinson, and Goodfellas and Casino co-screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi, The Alto Knights had serious potential to join the canon of great gangster movies. Yet the film fell flat for Mashable Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko, who wrote in her review, "The Alto Knights will likely be remembered fondly as a bold risk for its central casting gambit. But considering the masterful storytellers involved here and the muddle of a Mafia movie that came from them, it's impossible to imagine The Alto Knights will be known for much more than its big swing and a bigger miss." — Belen Edwards, Entertainment Reporter

Starring: Robert De Niro, Cosmo Jarvis, Debra Messing, and Matt Servitto

How to watch: The Alto Knights premieres June 6 on HBO Max.

8. Magic Farm

Director Amalia Ulman’s Magic Farm comes to streaming this week, having premiered earlier this year at Sundance Film Festival to mixed reviews. The satire film sees an American media production crew led by Jeff (Alex Wolff) and hosted by Edna (Chloë Sevigny) mistakenly arriving in the wrong small town in Argentina to interview a buzzy musician. Entitlement and privilege ensue when the crew realise they’re in the wrong place, but there’s improvising to be done (read: make up a new story). — Shannon Connellan, UK Editor

Starring: Chloë Sevigny, Alex Wolff, Joe Apollonio, Camila del Campo, Simon Rex, Amalia Ulman, Valeria Lois, and Guillermo Jacubowicz

How to watch: Magic Farm hits MUBI June 6.

7. Ginny & Georgia, Season 3

Buckle up, peaches! We're heading back to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, for Ginny & Georgia Season 3, and things are only going to get more complicated for our titular mother-daughter pair.

Season 2 ended with Georgia (Brianne Howey) under arrest for the murder of Tom (Vincent Legault), and you can bet Season 3 will pick right back up with her trial. Meanwhile, Georgia's daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry) tries to piece her life back together after her mother's arrest. In true Ginny & Georgia fashion, expect even more drama on the horizon. — B.E.

Starring: Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Katie Douglas, Chelsea Clark, Nathan Mitchell, Katelyn Wells, Ty Doran, and Noah Lamanna

How to watch: Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.

6. The Blackening

In 2023's horror comedy The Blackening, director Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like a Man) skewers the trope that Black people are always first to die in horror movies. The film follows a group of friends — played by Dewayne Perkins, Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, and more — whose Juneteenth cabin getaway falls into chaos when a white murderer shows up. Their plan to survive? Determine who is the "Blackest" among them, and sacrifice them to the killer.

SEE ALSO: 'The Blackening' cast chose their go-to weapons in a slasher film, and now we're dead!

In his review for Mashable, critic Robert Daniels praised The Blackening's twisting of horror tropes, writing, "As a feature film, The Blackening augments the spry, funny conceit, makes sharp references to other Black movies, and offers a hilarious and touching horror comedy that redresses cultural stereotypes." — B.E.

Starring: Dewayne Perkins, Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, Yvonne Orji, Diedrich Bader, and James Preston Rogers

How to watch: The Blackening is now streaming on Peacock.

5. Phineas and Ferb, Season 5

There's 104 more days of summer vacation for stepbrothers Phineas (voiced by Vincent Martella) and Ferb (voiced by David Errigo Jr.) to fill with fanciful inventions in this revival of the beloved animated series. While it's been 10 years since Phineas and Ferb's last episode aired, and five years since the last movie spin-off, the revival will make you feel like no time has passed at all. Phineas and Ferb are still crafting unforgettable summer adventures, Candace (voiced by Ashley Tisdale) is still trying to bust them, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz (voiced by Dan Povenmire) and Perry the Platypus (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) are still locked in an epic battle of good and evil.

The result is a sweet blast of nostalgia for viewers who grew up watching Phineas and Ferb, and a delightful treat for younger, newer viewers. Plus, new episodes mean new songs — which ones will join the likes of "Busted," "Gitchee Gitchee Goo," and "S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)" as tried-and-true Phineas and Ferb bangers? — B.E.

Starring: Vincent Martella, David Errigo Jr., Ashley Tisdale, Caroline Rhea, Dee Bradley Baker, Alyson Stoner, Dan Povenmire, and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh

How to watch: The first two episodes of Phineas and Ferb Season 5 premiere June 5 at 8 p.m. ET on the Disney Channel, and the first 10 episodes begin streaming on Disney+ June 6.

4. Dimension 20: Cloudward, Ho!

Dropout's TTRPG actual play series Dimension 20 takes to the skies in Cloudward, Ho!, a steampunk campaign that promises adventure of the highest order. This season welcomes us to the world of Gath, where brave explorers search for lands unknown. Among the most celebrated of these explorers is Professor Comfrey MacLeod, who went missing in search of the fabled continent of Zood. Many years after her disappearance, her granddaughter Olethra (Ally Beardsley) learns that Comfrey may still be alive — and that Zood is, in fact, real. Now, it's up to Comfrey's old crew, as well as a new generation of adventurers in Olethra and Maxwell Gotch (Brian Murphy), to find her. Brace yourself for all sorts of steampunk goodness, including airships, mech suits, and more. — B.E.

Starring: Brennan Lee Mulligan, Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson

How to watch: Dimension 20: Cloudward, Ho! is now streaming on Dropout, with a new episode every Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

3. Stick

If you love Ted Lasso and Shrinking, then Apple TV+'s new comedy Stick will be your next obsession. The series, created by Jason Keller, looks to recreate the success of Ted Lasso, replacing soccer with golf and Jason Sudeikis with Owen Wilson. Wilson plays washed-up golfer Pryce Cahill, who decides to mentor golf prodigy Santi (Peter Dager). As they and a motley crew of family and friends travel from tournament to tournament, they'll unpack their emotional baggage and learn heaps of life lessons along the way.

SEE ALSO: 'Stick' review: Owen Wilson's new comedy is basically golf 'Ted Lasso'

These plot points may be familiar, especially to any Ted Lasso fan, yet Stick imbues them with its own charms. Chiefest among them is a delightful performance from Wilson, who leads a solid core cast (even though it could use far more Judy Greer). As I wrote in my review, "As familiar as these beats are, there's no denying they make a solid base for any feel-good comedy. And with Wilson capably leading such a likable ensemble, Stick feels pretty darn good." — B.E.

Starring: Owen Wilson, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, and Judy Greer

How to watch: Stick is now streaming on Apple TV+, with a new episode every Wednesday.

2. The Accountant 2

In the mood for action and exceptional bro-y chemistry? Then run, don't walk, to stream The Accountant 2, the sequel to 2016's The Accountant. Ben Affleck returns as autistic accountant Christian, who recruits his mercenary brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) to help him with his newest case. Fights and thrills ensue, but it's the winning chemistry between Bernthal and Affleck (not to mention a spot of line dancing) that make The Accountant 2 worth a watch.

In her review out of The Accountant 2's 2025 SXSW premiere, Mashable Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko wrote, "The Accountant 2 is an undisputed crowdpleaser. You won't want to miss it." — B.E.

Starring: Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons

How to watch: The Accountant 2 is now streaming on Prime Video.

1. Sinners

Ryan Coogler's vampire film Sinners earned raves from critics and audiences alike. Now, you have the chance to experience one of the best film of 2025 at home.

Sinners tells the story of twins Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan in both roles), who dream of establishing their very own juke joint. However, their opening night takes a bloody turn when vampire Remmick (Jack O'Connell) shows up, hoping to co-opt blues prodigy Samuel's (Miles Caton) musical talents. What follows is a haunting vampire siege for the ages, bursting with exquisite characterization and some damn fine music.

SEE ALSO: Ryan Coogler and 'Sinners' cast on their vampire musical being 'genre-fluid'

As Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko wrote in her review, "Sinners is more than a hell of a thrilling vampire movie. Like Black Panther, it expands beyond the expectations of its genre to become a magnificent film, emanating with spirit, power, and purpose. Smoothly blending vampire horror into a unique tale of regret, resilience, and redemption, Coogler and Jordan have made a cinematic marvel that is terrifying, satisfying, and unforgettable." — B.E.

Starring: Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, and Delroy Lindo

How to watch: Sinners is now available to buy or rent on Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango at Home (Vudu).

This is the full Windows 11 Pro, complete with lifetime access, advanced security tools, productivity-boosting features, and access to Windows Copilot, the AI assistant built to make everyday tasks less task-y. Whether you’re managing multiple desktops, enabling BitLocker encryption, or just tired of your current OS crashing mid-Zoom call, this version means business.

And just in case the new interface or features seem a little overwhelming, the Essential Windows 11 Pro Course walks you through everything — from mastering snap layouts and system settings to optimizing cloud storage and learning the best keyboard shortcuts. It’s like having a tech-savvy friend who never gets tired of helping you.

If you’re already in the Windows ecosystem (and honestly, who isn’t?), this is an easy upgrade with a side of productivity. Whether you’re a freelancer, IT pro, remote worker, or just someone who likes a clean desktop and responsive system, Windows 11 Pro is designed to keep up without getting in the way.

For less than lunch out, you’re getting a lifetime operating system and 10 hours of expert instruction. That’s more power, less confusion, and zero recurring fees.

Pick up Microsoft Windows 11 Pro plus The Essential Windows 11 Pro Course for just $24.99 while it’s still on sale.
