Like it or not, AI is everywhere.
It was only a matter of time before the technology began showing up in the literary world. The novel Shy Girl was picked up by a major publisher last year, only to be canceled after allegations of AI-generated passages.
Now, AI voices are getting into the mix. Libby users are discovering that AI has also infiltrated the service's audiobooks.
As pointed out by user @ems.book.shelff on TikTok, AI audiobooks have arrived on Libby, the app that connects public library card holders with their library's e-book and audiobook collections.
This isn't the first instance of AI and Libby crossing over. On Nov. 20, 2025, Libby posted an article launching its 'Inspire Me' feature, which uses large-language-model generative artificial intelligence to recommend and suggest books to users.
The 'Inspire Me' feature is easy enough to avoid, but an underlying issue on Libby is the presence of audiobooks that are narrated by AI. For dedicated audiobook listeners, losing the human touch of a real person's narration is devastating. So if you want to steer clear of AI, here's how to spot AI audiobooks in Libby.

Which AI audiobooks are available will vary from library to library, so rather than provide an extensive list of AI audiobooks, you'll need to do some searching.

In the Libby app, go to the search bar and look at two specific terms: Digital Voice and Synthesized Voice. This will display all the titles that feature AI voice narration, which is commonly referred to as either a digital or synthesized voice.

Once you've searched, click into individual book listings. In each book's details, the narrator will be listed. Any books that use AI will have the narrator listed as either a 'synthesized voice' or 'digital voice.' If you're looking to avoid AI, don't borrow these books.

If you like playing daily word games like Wordle, then Hurdle is a great game to add to your routine.
There are five rounds to the game. The first round sees you trying to guess the word, with correct, misplaced, and incorrect letters shown in each guess. If you guess the correct answer, it'll take you to the next hurdle, providing the answer to the last hurdle as your first guess. This can give you several clues or none, depending on the words. For the final hurdle, every correct answer from previous hurdles is shown, with correct and misplaced letters clearly shown.
An important note is that the number of times a letter is highlighted from previous guesses does necessarily indicate the number of times that letter appears in the final hurdle.

What is today’s Moon phase?As of Tuesday, April 21, the Moon phase is Waxing Crescent. Tonight, 20% of the moon will be lit up, according to NASA's Daily Moon Guide.
If you're looking at the Moon with just your naked eye, you should be able to catch a glimpse of the Mares Crisium and Fecunditatis. If you have either binoculars or a telescope, you'll see these as well as the Endymion Crater.
When is the next Full Moon?The next Full Moon is predicted to take place on May 1, the first of two in May.
What are Moon phases?NASA says that the Moon completes a full orbit around Earth in about 29.5 days, during which it passes through eight stages. Although the same face of the Moon is always turned toward us, the portion illuminated by the Sun shifts as it travels along its path, producing the familiar cycle of full, half, and crescent shapes. These variations are referred to as lunar phases, and there are eight altogether:
New Moon - The Moon is between Earth and the sun, so the side we see is dark (in other words, it's invisible to the eye).
Waxing Crescent - A small sliver of light appears on the right side (Northern Hemisphere).
First Quarter - Half of the Moon is lit on the right side. It looks like a half-Moon.
Waxing Gibbous - More than half is lit up, but it’s not quite full yet.
Full Moon - The whole face of the Moon is illuminated and fully visible.
Waning Gibbous - The Moon starts losing light on the right side. (Northern Hemisphere)
Third Quarter (or Last Quarter) - Another half-Moon, but now the left side is lit.
Waning Crescent - A thin sliver of light remains on the left side before going dark again.

Released in August 2025, Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.
Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move on to the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level.
How to play PipsIf you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity with how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.

For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible — and common — for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space.
Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:
Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.
Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips.
Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.
Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.
Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number.
If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.

Strands, the New York Times' elevated word-search game, requires the player to perform a twist on the classic word search. Words can be made from linked letters — up, down, left, right, or diagonal, but words can also change direction, resulting in quirky shapes and patterns. BookCon 2026 returned for the first time in six years, and fans returned in droves, selling out the event fast. We were on the ground at the event, covering panels and chatting with authors and BookTok creators. But just like the attendees, we also hit the exhibition floor to explore all the gadgets on display. With the popularity of e-readers, we expected to see a ton of devices on the floor, but there was a surprising lack thereof, and the enthusiasm focused on physical books.
But we looked at what BookCon attendees had on hand, too, including the tech they used to capture the event and the essentials for navigating the chaos of BookCon. Here are all the bookish tech and products we spotted at BookCon 2026.
Rakuten Kobo Rakuten's Kobo e-readers were the only e-readers on display at BookCon 2026. Credit: Samantha Mangino / MashableOn the show floor, while Kindle cases were a popular item to score, Kindle devices were noticeably absent. Instead, Rakuten Kobo was the only e-reader making an appearance. We've tested both brands at Mashable and love Kobo's color e-readers, including the Kobo Clara and Kobo Libra, both of which were on display at BookCon. Plus, the Kobo Remote was on display at Rakuten's booth, as the brand is the first to launch its own e-reader remote.

For every single minute, the clock displays a literary quote that features the time. It's perfect for literary enthusiasts — whether that be you or a friend. The brand recently launched a new device for weather forecasts, too. The Author Forecast connects to WiFi to detect your local weather and then reflect it with a literary passage on the device.

We spotted the DJI Osmo camera everywhere, similar to what we experienced at VidCon. Fans were using it to capture the event, so we're expecting to see lots of BookCon vlogs on BookTok soon. Plus, we also saw attendees using the DJI Mic Mini, which could easily be clipped on to wear around the event.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, when just VIP and the press were admitted to the exhibition floor, things were already steamy, and people had broken out their handheld fans. While we didn't spot Shark's new ChillPill or Dyson's new HushJet at BookCon, the cheap handheld fans you can score on Amazon are still the most popular choice.

I saw dozens of attendees with colorful disks strapped crossbody throughout the event, and when I asked one person what it was, my jaw dropped as they revealed a collapsible stool — a genius way to have a seat with you while waiting in long lines.

Attendees came prepared to take home all the free things with folding utility carts. By far, the MacoPro folding utility cart was the most popular option. Plus, with its flat top, it's basically a portable chair, too.

However, you can still score DJI drones in the U.S., just not directly from DJI. So long as you keep a close eye on the reputation of a third-party seller, you have access to tons of DJI drone models and this particular mini option happens to be a on a great sale today.

DJI is well known as one of the best creator-friendly brands. There's the social-media famous DJI Mic Mini and the vlogger paradise DJI Osmo Pocket 3. But of course, the brand is excellent at creating drones. The DJI Mini 4K is a perfect model if you're looking for a compact and functional drone that's also beginner friendly.
Whether you're a content creator, in the real estate business, or simply curious about the areas you explore, the DJI Mini 4K would like an invitation to tag along. Weighing under 249 grams, the drone doesn't require a license to operate and it's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

The iPhone Fold (or is it the iPhone Ultra?) won't be arriving until at least September, but early leaks of Apple's foldable show a wider design than typical foldable phones.
The global smartphone market is already adapting to offer similar designs, and Samsung is rumored to be releasing a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide model in July to compete with the foldable iPhone. However, Chinese smartphone brand Huawei has beaten them both to the punch with the April 20 launch of the Huawei Pura X Max, which officially ushered in the era of the wide foldable.
Now, YouTuber Vincent Zhong has posted an unboxing video showing an up-close look at the new Huawei foldable. The video is titled "HUAWEI Pura X Max hands on: the foldable iPhone will look just like this!"
The iPhone Fold is rumored to have a roughly 7.8-inch internal, foldable OLED display and a 5.5-inch outer OLED display, making it noticeably wider than most foldable phones. The Huawei Pura X Max has a 7.7-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch external display, as well as the rounded edges seen in alleged iPhone Fold leaks.
As a result, the smartphone in Zhong's video should closely resemble the first-ever Apple foldable, if the leaks prove true.

It lacks a few of the upgraded specs from the more expensive S95F, like a glare-free coating and Dolby Vision HDR, but its price to picture quality ratio makes up for it. At full cost, it's out of most people's price range, but with a $1,602 price cut, this is one of the best big screen TVs you can buy.
